Earth Day Celebration



The Enrichmond Foundation proudly presents the 23rd Earth Day Richmond Festival on Saturday, April 23rd at Great Shiplock Park.  We’ll have kayak rides on the James, performances by Jesse the Juggler, guided bike rides along the Virginia Capital Trail, a bouldering wall, non-profit exhibitors, a hip hop dance class for families, a craft market, and much more!  The event is free and open to the public.  Click here to see our food, beverage, and non-profit vendors.

  • Free shuttle service from the 17th Street Farmers’ Market to the festival.  The bus stop is located in the center of the 17th Street Farmers’ Market across from LuLu’s.  Parking will be available in and around the 17th Street Farmers’ Market.


  • Earth Day 5K Race Without a Trace
    • This 5K fun run is sponsored by Viridiant.
    • Ends at the entrance of the Earth Day Richmond Festival.

  • Kayak rides on the James
    • Hosted by  by RVA Paddlesports.
    • Participants must weigh at least 40 pounds.
    • Located on the riverfront of Chapel Island in Shiplock Park.
    • 11:00am – 5:00pm
  • Outdoor Gear Swap
    • Fundraiser for the James River Outdoor Coalition.
    • Located in the grass lot at the intersection of Pear and Dock Streets.
    • 11:00am – 3:00pm
  • Bouldering Wall
    • Sponsored by Peak Experiences.
    • Open to all ages.
    • 11:00am – 5:00pm
  • Jesse the Juggler!
    • 30 minute shows at the Shiplock Park.
    • Entrance Map located in the parking lot of the park.
    • 12:00pm, 1:00pm, and 2:00pm
  • Guided mountain bike rides along the Virginia Capital Trail
    • Hosted by the James River Park Outdoor Adventure Program.
    • Meet at the bike trailer in the Shiplock Park parking lot at least 15-20 minutes before trail rides.
    • A limited amount of bikes will be available to borrow.
    • All ages welcomed.

  • Hip Hop Dance Class
    • Brought to you by Studio 4.
    • Located at the Shiplock Park Entrance Map in the parking lot of the park.
    • Open to all ages.
    • 3:00pm

Important Note: Event guests MUST complete a liability waiver  to participate in the following activities – kayak rides, bouldering wall, hip hop dance class, or the mountain bike trail ride.  The Activity Waiver Tent will be located in the grass lot at the intersection of Pear and Dock Streets.  After completion, patrons will receive a wrist band that enables them to participate in all interactive activities.
